The SLCC Markosian Library at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus now accepts credit cards. Patrons can now pay for library fines and items from the Café @ Markosian with their credit cards. If you have questions about the library accepting credit cards, please call the Redwood Circulation Desk at 801-957-4602 option 2.

College’s Library Services Unveiling New Website

Salt Lake Community College Library Services will roll out its new website July 22. Designers of the new site have come up with: More user-friendly site   Responsive design that is mobile friendly   Site that highlights the library’s collections and services   Brighter feel and color scheme to mimic SLCC’s main website   New “Help and Info” section to aid students and faculty with using the library Access to our new Library Liasons Keep your eye out for the new site, which is the same URL, only a new look and feel to better serve everyone.

Artist's Interpretation of Colorado Plateau Exhibited at Eccles Gallery

Salt Lake Community College hosted a reception for artist Ron Larson, whose works depicting the natural wonders in and around the Colorado Plateau are on display at the  George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Gallery until August 4.

Students Take Home Gold and Silver from SkillsUSA National Competition

Salt Lake Community College students competing in several categories took home gold and silver medals from the SkillsUSA National Skill and Leadership Conference in Louisville, Kentucky in June. With more than 300,000 students and advisors as members, SkillsUSA is a nationwide partnership with industry representatives to ensure that the U.S. has a skilled workforce. Founded in 1965, SkillsUSA is a national organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations. Every year the SkillsUSA state winners move on to compete nationally in a variety of disciplines. This year’s national winners from SLCC were: Gold – Team Works, with Ben Hull (electrician), Aaron Brumfield (carpenter), Tanner Ostler (plumber) and Deric Yoakam (brick mason), which beat 13 other teams for the top prize Silver – Jeremy Tritchler, cabinetmaking; Sienna Scheid and Adam Hill, web design; and Morgan Hofheins, scre

College Unveils Unique Playground at Early Childhood Lab

Salt Lake Community College opened its new “nature playground” at the Eccles Early Childhood Development Lab School, located at 4600 S. Redwood Road in Taylorsville. The new nature-based playground is a premier environment that has been created to follow national best practices in quality early childhood education. The new outdoor environment allows children to explore the world around them in meaningful and engaging ways. As a departure from the typical playground, the goal is to have an outdoor classroom that offers places to climb, crawl, build, explore, hide, experiment with water, dig, garden, increase curiosity and create personal connections that instill and broaden an appreciation of the natural world.
