Peer Mentoring Program Una Mano Amiga



Don’t forget to attend this event at the South City Campus Multipurpose room 1-032 on October 25, 2013 from 3:30 to 7:30 pm. We will be celebrating the Peer Mentoring Program’s " Ãœna Mano Amiga” (A Helping Hand) Second Anniversary. We will have the opportunity to celebrate this great event with recognitions, surprises, and prizes. We will also have unique testimonies by our peer mentors' experience of being part of “Una Mano Amiga” and how it has had an impact on their lives, do not miss it!


“The mission of the Peer Mentoring Program, Ãœna Mano Amiga” (A Helping Hand) is to help Hispanic students achieve their academic goals as well as help new students at Salt Lake Community College in their first steps. We provide students with educational, social and emotional support. We believe that students should mentor other students. With this idea, the student with most experience has the opportunity to guide the new students. We are a community that inspires, gives support and share our experiences as well as information from the different resources that the college offers.”

Nosotros tendremos la oportunidad de celebrar este gran evento con reconocimientos, sorpresas y premios. Asimismo tendremos el testimonio de nuestros peer mentors sobre el impacto que tuvo “Una Mano Amiga” en sus vidass. No faltes.
 
La misión del Peer Mentoring Program “Una Mano Amiga” es asistir a los estudiantes hispanos a alcanzar sus metas académicas así como también ayudar a los nuevos estudiantes en Salt Lake Community College con sus primeros pasos. Nosotros proveemos a los estudiantes soporte educacional, social y emocional. Nosotros consideramos que el mejor mentor de un estudiante es otro estudiante. Con esta idea el estudiante con más experiencia sirve como mentor al nuevo estudiante. Nosotros somos una comunidad que no solo inspiramos y damos soporte a nuestros estudiantes sino también compartimos nuestras experiencias e información de las diferentes fuentes de apoyo que el College ofrece.

SLCC's Undergraduate Annual Research Conference Registration Deadline

Salt Lake Community College’s annual Undergraduate Projects, Performances, Presentations, and Research Conference (UP3RC) is set to take place on April 2, at the Taylorsville Redwood Campus, offering students a chance to showcase their academic achievements, fostering a culture of intellectual exchange.  The UP3RC is an annual event designed to celebrate and highlight the academic accomplishments of undergraduate students. It provides a supportive environment for students to share their work, hone their presentations skills, receive constructive feedback, and engage in meaningful discussions with their peers and faculty. All SLCC departments and programs, including faculty and staff, are encouraged to support and visit the day of the event. You’re Invited to A Party! Open House Kicks off New Herriman Campus

  Complimentary food truck fare, live music, and family activities spotlight new campus.   There’s something for everyone at the upcoming Herriman Campus Community Open House on Friday, August 4 (3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.). See schedule below.   The public is invited to celebrate the opening of this new campus with festivities that include free local food truck fare, live music, and a Mocktail Mixer, where you can mingle with others, including Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) and University of Utah (U of U) faculty.   Families with kids can engage in face painting and a craft station, see the Super Mario Brothers movie, and high-five mascots Brutus, Swoop and Yeti.   This is an opportunity to have some summer fun for all ages and to check out the Juniper building on the new 88-acre SLCC Herriman campus.    At the open house, prospective students and their families can meet SLCC and U of U faculty and staff, take a tour the building, or even check out the Application & Transfer Lab a
